6:10 Catterick – Good Luck Fox – 1pt @ 16/1

It’s tough to know what to expect from Good Luck Fox as his last two performances have been so poor. If he replicates them, he has got no chance of being involved, but his mark is falling and the heavy conditions he tackled last time were of no use to him. The ground drying up is a big positive.

His wheels looked to be spinning from an early stage at Thirsk and, before that, when running at York, he wasn’t best to stride and stayed in rear throughout. It wasn’t the first time he ran poorly there and it’s possible he doesn’t like the track. So I’m happy to readily ignore both of those outings.

The three runs he produced before that had suggested he was building up towards something close to a winning level and they were all off a mark of 73. He’s 8lbs lower now, runs over a C&D where his form reads 1-2 and will get a good gallop to sit off. If he’s in any sort of form, he’s overpriced.

16:45 Catterick – Lady Celia – 1pt @ 9/1

Lady Celia has no well-being worries. She joined Alan Brown from Richard Fahey this season and after seeming to need her return at Carlisle, she was a comfortable winner at Nottingham from a mark of 58. The way she went through that race would suggest there’s more to come.

She was defeated on her sole start since, beaten a length into fourth at Ayr, but the pace wasn’t stopping and I got the impression she was a little tapped for toe. That makes the return to 6f seem like the right move to me and she has previous over the distance, so stamina isn’t an issue.

There’s still some scope in her mark of 61 and the yard have done so well with so many of their horses this year that it wouldn’t be a surprise to see her get back to something like her previous best. The draw is good, the ground is fine and hopefully she’ll be in there pitching late on.
